Reviews

I don’t think I'm exaggerating to say that talking to Samantha changed my life. I had been battling with accepting I needed some kind of major surgical intervention for a rapidly deteriorating back problem. I was filled with fear, uncertainty and inability to commit to a procedure I knew I needed because I just didn’t know whose hands I should entrust my life with. Samantha gave me a summary of three surgeons, crisply delivered in language I understood. Having someone who’d done the homework was hugely reassuring. I went with her recommendation and have never looked back. Surgery is scary. Samantha made it far less so by directing me to surgeons leading their field and at the top of their game. My thanks to Samantha for this is heartfelt.

— Spinal surgery patient 2023

I cannot say how grateful I am that you got me an intro to Ben - my outcome would have been very different without your help. It was the most important thing anyone could have done for me.

— Renal cancer patient, London Bridge Hospital

Thanks to Samantha Boyce, I found the best surgeons for my shoulder reconstruction. The Cleveland Clinic London was state-of-the-art, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

— Shoulder surgery patient

We contacted Samantha at The MedicBook unclear about a spinal condition. After a few questions she instantly knew who would be the best person for my son to see. I genuinely do not know what we would have done without The MedicBook.

Frequently asked questions

Have any questions?

How do you choose consultants for each patient's care?

Having worked in private hospitals, health insurance and medical concierge services for 15 years we have a carefully curated list of Consultants who are at the cutting edge of treatment across the majority of medical specialties.

Do you provide options when suggesting consultants?

Typically we give three Consultants’ names for patients to choose from. For each, we’ll provide a rationale and summary of their practice, their sub-specialties, expertise, training and achievements. For rarer conditions, we use our network of Consultants and hospital executives to find the perfect specialist.

How quickly can I be seen by a consultant?

Of course, timings vary but sometimes same day appointments are possible. We have close relationships with our hospital partners and many Consultants, so we can often expedite a patient’s healthcare journey. This includes fast-tracked appointments or asking for additional clinics to be held by doctors. We can arrange for video consultations if travel is required but health precludes it at the time.

Can my scans be sent to a new consultant?

The UK has an image exchange portal (IEP) which allows scans to be uploaded and securely exported from one NHS or private hospital to another.  This includes image transfers from the Channel Islands. International image transfers beyond the UK can also be arranged.

What’s the cost of this service?

There is no cost to the patient for using our service. We are paid a small commission by our partner hospitals. We are fortunate to work with the best hospitals in the UK.

Which private hospitals do you work with?

Our partner hospitals are based in London, Birmingham, and Manchester. They are at the forefront of healthcare providing: the very latest treatments, diagnostic and surgical technology, and multidisciplinary care to optimise health outcomes - including level 3 intensive care units.

What if the treatment is not available in our partner hospitals?

Whilst unlikely, should a treatment not be available in these hospitals, we always put the patient’s needs first and will source the right Consultant elsewhere. Importantly, our clients (patients) have access to hospitals in London, Manchester and Birmingham, where our knowledge base of treatments and Consultants is.

Can you organise emergency care?

Many of our hospitals offer immediate assessment and care 24/7 for stable patients with acute conditions. Whether patients are transferring from another hospital or seeking urgent treatment, we can facilitate quick, smooth transitions for your care - from anywhere in the UK or for medical evacuation by air from abroad.
